Chelsea and Arsenal have reportedly been offered Real Madrid star Karim Benzema.

Benzema has endured a difficult season at Real Madrid so far. The France international has scored 12 goals in 26 games but his displays against the bigger teams have left much to be desired.

He failed to finish off his chances as Madrid were dumped out of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday. And Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to have grown tired of the striker’s erratic performances.

Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim Perez has opened talks with Arsenal and Chelsea over a move for the forward. It is claimed the Madrid chief believes Benzema’s best days are now behind him.

Cristiano Ronaldo is key to the deal with Madrid considering whether to use him as a natural centre-forward. The former Manchester United star is a winger by trade but has been utilised up front in the past.

Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on signing Benzema before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline. However, his love for old club Lyon could scupper PSG’s chances of signing him.

Real Madrid needs to correct the form of Karim Benzema, needs to get him back to scoring form especially with the Champions League on the horizon.

The Frenchman has shown on many occasions that he possesses undoubted quality (don’t forget he is among the top eight all-time scorers in the club’s history) but when things aren’t going well for him, they really don’t go well.

In recent games, he has been quite far from the player that Real Madrid supporters have come to expect.

Without the BBC, Los Blancos have toiled of late. Gareth Bale is on the injury list, Cristiano Ronaldo has been missing a touch of sharpness since the turn of the year and Benzema looks like a man in need of inspiration and confidence.
