Wenger however, has been looking into the transfer market for some additions to the squad and though it now looks like he is not going to spend in January, he is reportedly already making plans for the next season.

The French international, who helped Atletico Madrid to the Champions League final and the French national team to the EURO16 final, is currently one of the best players of the game in Europe.

He is one of the most productive forwards going around and has been in top form from the start of the season in the La Liga.

However, he has been constantly linked with a move to the Premier League with a number of clubs ready to fight for him and it is now understood that Wenger has joined the race for his signature.

The Gunners have been actively pursuing a star striker from more than a couple of summers but they have missed out on the likes of Mauro Icardi, Alexander Lacazette and Jamie Vardy recently.

And Wenger is now adamant that he might as well spend big to get one of the best players in Europe to London in the summer.

The London outfit were interested in the signature of the 25-year old even at the start of the season but the Spanish outfit were just not ready to listen to any offers.

But with Atletico Madrid now ready to let him go for a price of around £86m, Wenger is now plotting a bid for the star in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal will face tough competition from a host of clubs who are ready to make a move for him in the summer. Manchester United are plotting to use French sensation Paul Pogba to lure his national team mate to the Old Trafford, offering him a staggering wage of £250,000-a-week while Chelsea are also hoping to land him at the end of the season.

It is understood that Atletico Madrid are already preparing for life after Griezmann and he is set to be a transfer story for sure in the summer window.
