Former Indian captain and batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has warned Virat Kohli’s men to not underestimate the visiting Australian team ahead of the upcoming Test series, commencing from February 23rd in Pune. However, Sachin has backed his countrymen to come out victorious in the end.
Sachin, who has played 39 Tests against Australia and has scored 3630 runs, said the last thing India would be doing is to take the cricket’s modern day dominaters lightly and then suffering the result of an upset.
He said Steve Smith and his side will be facing a tough challenge in India but didn’t make a mistake of ruling Australia’s chances of coming out as winners.
“The last thing one would like to do is underestimate your opposition and Australia is a strong side. Yes, to play in Indian conditions it would be difficult and Australian players have also acknowledged that, which is a compliment to the Indian team, the way they are playing but you cannot take things for granted.”
Having known the nature of Australian cricket for years, Sachin said the visitors aren’t going to drop their fighting spirit and that India should be up with their A game every time.
He further added team India have had a great run heading into an important series and he is confident of India repeating the heroics against the mighty Aussies.
“I have no doubt that our team will prepare to their best of the ability and deliver when it matters. Australian are going to be tough to handle and that’s how it has always been. But I think I am confident of Indian team.”
India and Australia will square off for the four Tests from February 23rd.
