BCCI joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary has been barred from convening the selection meeting for the one-off Test against Bangladesh, as he was found to ineligible. In result to this, the announcement of the squad has been delayed for up to four hours.

The meeting was scheduled to take place by 12 noon, but Chaudhary, who was present at the location, was not allowed as per the chief of Committee of Administrations Vinod Rai’s instruction.
Chaudhary was however on time but was put on hold until the call was made on his intervention in the meeting. The meeting though happened but under the guidance of CEO Rahul Johri via video conferencing.
As reported by PTI, a source close to the BCCI who witnessed the incident said:
“Amitabh Chaudhary had called a senior selection committee meeting in Delhi today to select the squad against Bangladesh. Vinod Rai and Co have immediately swung in and barred him from doing anything. The CEO is directly convening the meeting via video conference from Mumbai.”
Going by the words of media persons who were present at the location, the meeting was reported to begin by 15:30 IST, half an hour before selector Sarandeep Singh reached the hotel. Things got delayed after that and the team’s announcement is yet to be made.
