Matthew Hayden, former Australia opening batsman backed Kevin Pietersen and narrated England‘s resolution to repeatedly overlook the famous superstar batsman as “ludicrous”.
In February, Kevin Pietersen’s main contract with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) was ended, reported by bbc.co.uk.
The 43-year old Hayden who scored 8,625 runs in 103 Test matches said on Sunday that it is ridiculous that Kevin Pietersen is not in the England team. It is just crazy. World Cups are always won on unorthodox batting he said.
Hayden’s condemnation follows England’s decision to release Alastair Cook and appoint Eoin Morgan as the skipper for the 2015 World Cup starting 14th February in Australia and New Zealand.
Kevin Pietersen tweeted his approval of the action saying “Great news that @Eoin16 is new England 1-day captain. Top player, leader and bloke. Hope I get to play for him.”
England have not picked him since last winter’s 0-5 Ashes whitewash.
After releasing him from his main contract, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) managing director Paul Downton said that Kevin Pietersen had appeared uninterested and inattentive at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) during the 5th test.
Paul also stated that he was impotent to find a single person who wanted the batsman to stay in the England team. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and Paul Downton later apologized for the comments.
When he was asked about whether Pietersen may be recalled following Morgan’s promotion to skipper, Downton replied that they separated company with KP because throughout the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) management, from the Board up to the dressing room, it was felt that it was the perfect decision to go in a moderately different direction.
In KP’s book, published in October, he stated that there was a “bullying culture” within the England squad. He said former coach Andy Flower “ruled by fear” and former wicketkeeper Matt Prior was a turbulent influence on the squad.
