Australian skipper Michael Clarke says that he is improving well from operation on a torn hamstring. New South Walesman, Clarke, set alarm bells ringing with a sharp warning when he sustained a torn hamstring at Adelaide during the first Test against India, which could cut short star batsman’s cricketing career.  But in an upbeat column for popular newspaper Michael gave a pragmatic evaluation a week after the surgery.

The 33-year-old said of the tournament that starts in Australia and New Zealand in mid-February is the biggest thing for him and returning on the crease for the World Cup would be his priority.

Michael also added that he has been told by medical team that he is in as good a condition as he can be a week after undergoing the operation. There is no protuberance and no pain when he walks. He cannot wait to start stage two of the rehab process which includes starting to run again.

He also offered strong support to friends Brad Haddin, Chris Rogers, and Shane Watson who have come under pressure for poor performances since the start of the 4 Test series against India. Michael, who also carries a chronic back problem said that it is important to have players like them in a team when they are bringing through youngsters.

With Australia leading India 2-0 ahead of the Third Test in Melbourne on Friday, he also supported them for the 2015 Ashes team to face England. He added that personally he hopes all 3 of them are on the plane to England for the next 2015 Ashes series. These players always bring so much other things to the table than just their batting.
