Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi’s tweet on the Kashmir ‘Peace’ issue has received backlash from his followers.

In a series of Tweets, Afridi, who has a huge fan-base from Himalayan region, termed it as high time to take pleas into consideration.

Afridi’s tweet did not sit well with the Twitterati, who told him to look at his own country first before pressing for issues of others.

The Peshawar-born cricketer demanded for peace in the valley while expressing his solidarity with the people of Kashmir by stating precious lives have been lost due to the skirmishes.

“Kashmir has been suffering from brutality since past many decades.its high timethis (time this) issue shd (should) be resolved which has taken infinite lives,” Afridi wrote in his first tweet.

The 36-year-old right-handed batsman Afridi was overlooked by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selectors after he stepped down as a Twenty20 skipper last year.

As Kashmir remained the focal point, the neighbouring countries India-Pakistan fought thrice in 1965, 1971 and 1999.

Former Pakistan skipper used hashtags which included I Stand With Kashmir and Kashmir Solidarity Day.

“Kashmir is heaven on earth & we can’t be oblivious to the pleas of the innocent. #iStandWithKashmir #KasmirSolidarityDay,” Afridi tweeted.

Last year in October, Afridi suggested both the neighbouring countries should maintain peace.
