The two-day practice match between India A and Bangladesh at the Gymkhana Ground, Hyderabad ended in a draw as the visitors were thoroughly dominated by India A team throughout the match.
Mushfiqur Rahim’s men were 73 for 2 when the match ended with Tamim Iqbal not out on 42 while Mahmudullah was unbeaten on 1. Soumya Sarkar, who had scored a half-century on the first day, was the first batsman to be dismissed when chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav dismissed him to end the 71-run partnership for the opening wicket. On the very next ball, the left-arm spinner dismissed Mominul Haque for a golden duck.
Earlier, India, riding on centuries from Priyank Panchal, Shreyas Iyer and Vijay Shankar, had declared their first innings after scoring a massive 461 for 6, 237 runs ahead of Bangladesh’s first innings total of 224. Resuming the day on 91 for 1, Panchal and Iyer faced little difficulty on a flat pitch and batted in the same fashion that saw them adding 50-runs for the second wicket on the previous day. Both the batsmen retired hurt after completing their centuries before the Bangladeshi bowlers fought back with 4 quick wickets.
Subashis Roy, who had dismissed Abhinav Mukund on the first day, started the mini collapse by dismissing Ishank Jaggi (23) and Rishabh Pant (19) before Taijul Islam’s twin strikes reduced India to 287 for 5 from 267 for 1. However, a century stand between Vijay Shankar and Nitin Saini put India A back on top. Their 115-run partnership came from only 139 balls as both the batsmen played some ambitious shots throughout their match. Shankar was more aggressive than his partner as he scored 103 from only 81 balls while Saini scored 66 from 85 before he was sent back by Taijul Islam.
