Australia vs Sri Lanka 2017: Lasith Malinga Returns As Upul Tharanga Handed Captaincy 1

Lasith Malinga, who last played an international game against U.A.E. at Dhaka in the Asia Cup 2016, has made a comeback to the national squad as he has named in the 15-member squad for the three T20Is against Australia to be played in the second half of February.

While Malinga has made a comeback, Upul Tharanga, who is leading Sri Lanka in the ODI series against South Africa, has also been named as the captain of the side for the T20I series. Regular skipper Angelo Mathews has been sidelined due to an injury while Dinesh Chandimal has been dropped.

Vikram Sanjaya, the uncapped 24-year old pacer, has been called with Chamara Kapugedara also making a comeback.

The Sri Lankan team will reach Australia on February 13 and will take on Prime Minister’s XI squad in the only practice game on February 15. The first T20I of the series will be played at Melbourne on February 17 before both teams fly to Victoria and Adelaide for the remaining games.
