Cristianro Ronaldo is trying to persuade Real Madrid board not to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
Aubameyang has long been backed to move to Real Madrid.
The Gabon international has made no secret of his desire to move to the Spanish capital – admitting he made a promise to his late grandfather to one day wear the famous white jersey.
“If I want to move forward, I should go this summer,” Aubameyang told RMC last month, and the impact of his words was felt at Dortmund.
Michael Zorc, their sporting director, even had to clarify that the club had asked their star to stop talking and focus on their Champions League campaign.
However, The Sun claimed earlier this week Liverpool were planning to lure Aubameyang to Anfield.
The 27-year-old played under Reds boss Jurgen Klopp at Dortmund and a spectacular summer reunion could be on the cards.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Ronaldo could have an influence on any possible move.
The former Manchester United star loves being Madrid’s talisman, with the team built around him to ensure he wins as many personal accolades as possible.
Ronaldo is said to be opposed to Aubameyang signing for the Spanish giants, believing the Dortmund star would hamper his chances of winning the golden boot.
And that could mean good news for Liverpool, who would receive a major boost in their bid to sign him at the end of the season.
Aubameyang has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers in recent seasons.
He scored a stunning 39 goals in 49 games to fire Dortmund to second in the Bundesliga last term.
And he has followed that up this season, bagging scoring 21 times from 25 appearances.
