Liverpool are looking for a surprise move for Middlesbrough midfielder Gaston Ramirez as his club is facing a relegation battle at the moment.
The Uruguayan midfielder has handed a transfer request to his club earlier in January but has failed to secure a move away from Boro with the club hierarchy not interested to sell the player.
Ramirez has drawn interest from Premier League champions Leicester City in January but manager Aitor Karanka has ensured that the player did not leave to a direct rival as Leicester are also facing a relegation battle with the Foxes just above the bottom three at the moment in the league.
Liverpool are in woeful form so far this year as they threw their entire season with a series of poor performances since the start of 2017. The Reds have managed a mere win since the start of 2017 and their sole win came against Plymouth in a cup tie.
Their poor performances meant that they were knocked out of FA Cup and EFL Cup, while they lost their strong foothold in the title race. Liverpool can only expect a place in the top four which will ensure a Champions League spot and bring back magical nights back to Anfield.
With such form, Liverpool and Klopp are determined to make some new signings in the summer and according to Calciomercato, the club are determined to push for a deal in the summer transfer window.
It might not be a tough task to lure the Uruguayan to Anfield in the summer as Ramirez has already played with the likes of Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne at Southampton. His experience in the Premier League would be a huge positive for the Reds as he has looked reliable at Boro this year.
