Bernardo set to ignite a bidding war

Manchester United have reportedly opened talks for AS Monaco winger Bernardo Silva in a sensational summer move, according to The Sun.

The Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is a huge admirer of the 22-year old and is keen to make a move. Silva has been in prime form since moving to Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco in a £13.4million deal from Benfica in 2015.

However, Manchester United will have to fight interest from European giants Barcelona as the Catalans are also keen to make a move for the Portuguese winger. The La Liga champions have sent their technical director Robert Fernandez to watch Silva last weekend.

Silva has been in great form off late as he has starred in the 1-1 away draw against PSG earlier and have ably backed it up with another solid performance in their 3-0 win last weekend.

According to The Sun, Manchester United are now looking favorites ahead of Barcelona to sign Bernardo Silva as they have opened the talks with AS Monaco for a potential summer move.

United are also looking to insert a right to refusal clause for Monaco which could tilt the move more towards the Premier League outfit. The Red Devils are keen to add quality wingers to their squad as it is one of the weakest areas in their attack.

Silva is expected to only get better and he won’t be a cheap option for Manchester United as he could cost a massive £70 million with his contract still having three years left in it.

Since joining Monaco in 2014 Silva has scored 21 goals in 87 Ligue 1 appearances and have looked one of the finest young talents in the French league. Bernardo also shares the same agent of Jose Mourinho, Jorge Mendes which could make the deal much more easier than expected as only a few players in the world could reject a move to a club like Manchester United.
