Quinton de Kock Breaks MS Dhoni's Record Of Fastest Wicketkeeper To Reach 3000 ODI Runs 1

South Africa opener Quinton de Kock has surpassed  Mahendra Singh Dhoni to  become the fastest wicketkeeper to get to 3000 ODI runs during the 5th and final match of the ongoing series against Sri Lanka at Centurion.

Prior to the match, de Kock needed 36 runs to reach the landmark and the 21-year old did it in style as he went on to score a century. He completed his 3,000 ODI runs with a single off the final delivery in the 9th over.

The southpaw took only 74 innings to breach the 3000-run mark and broke MS Dhoni’s record who had achieved the milestone in his 90th innings.He has now become the second South African wicketkeeper-batsman after Mark Boucher to  score 3,000 runs in ODIs.  He has also become the third fastest South African to score 3,000 runs in ODIs after Hashim Amla (57 innings) and Gary Kirsten (72 innings).

The left-handed batsman is now the 13th wicketkeeper batsman to score this much in ODIs and is eighth on the overall list which is headed by Hashim Amla who had reached the 3000-run mark in only 57 innings.

Meanwhile, de Kock scored 109 runs in the match as South Africa posted a mammoth 384 runs in the final ODI. The Proteas are leading the series 4-0 and will be keen to inflict a whitewash on the visitors.
