Indian pace bowling has had a disappointing tour in Australia so far and 3rd Test Match has made matters worse as every bowler conceded more than 100 runs in their spell. Indian pitches aren’t well known for pace bowling but when the same bowlers find pitches that gives them pace and bounce only makes the bowler greedy and in turn effects their performance.
Same has been the case in the current tour of Australia as Indian pace bowlers have over used the short ball and the result is no good. This shows that there hasn’t been guidance given to young bowlers to utilize the benefits from the pitch.
Firstly let us take a look Indian pace bowlers to concede most number of runs in a single innings of Test match:

Stat updated till 27 December 2014
Zaheer Khan has conceded 170 runs against New Zealand and tops the list of bowlers to concede most runs in a single innings. Overall when we take a look at this stat the most year where Indian bowlers have failed miserably is the year 2014.
6 instances in the Top have come from the year 2014 and 3 of which are from the 2nd Test match against New Zealand in Wellington. Pace bowlers had started off well in this match, when Shami and Ishant picked up 4 and 6 wickets accordingly. But in the 2nd innings the Kiwis came back strongly and McCullum scored 302, as a result pace bowlers have conceded runs above 150.
India’s formula of only motivating the youngsters has definitely been failing in the context of pace bowling and this stat confirms that. The solution here wouldn’t be to bring back old players who are out of form, instead the board must look to bring in experienced India bowler as an advisor, which might help upto some extent.
