Indian team faced a tough time from Bangladesh, as the visitors went on to bat for a total of 127.5 overs before finally getting all-out in the morning session of Day 4, just 10 minutes prior to the Lunch break. It was an attempt to play a sweep from skipper Musfiqur Rahim which finally brought an end to the team innings for 388, still 299 runs behind India’s total.
The home team did not enforce the follow-on and batted for an over before lunch, which was quite crucial from the perspective of both teams.
The home team had a great start to the penultimate day as Bhuvneshwar Kumar came up with some brilliant piece of bowling and asked questions to Mehedi Hasan Miraz, the overnight batsman, right from the first ball of the day. The first delivery was aimed at stumps which Mehedi successfully defended. The next one just left the batsman perplexed till the last moment as he wasn’t sure whether to touch the ball or not. The third one came into Mehedi before finally, Bhuveshwar came up with a ripper, which swung in and castled Mehedi’s stumps, to provide a dream start to the Indian team.
It seemed like Indian team got a start they were looking for but soon their dream of bowling out visitors at the pace they wanted was blown away as the visiting batsmen took body blows, but did not gift their wicket.
It was after a pause of almost 10 overs when finally there was something for India bowlers as the thirst to take a wicket was quenched when Umesh Yadav got rid of Taijul Islam.
Indian team now lead by a margin of 300 runs and will look to declare in the last session of the day with a lead of around 500.
