Paris Saint-Germain have taken a huge step towards qualifying for the next round with an emphatic 4-0 win over Barcelona.
It was one of those nights when nothing went according to the plan for the Spanish giants. Birthday boy Angel Di Maria was the star of the night with two world-class goals while Julian Draxler and Edinson Cavani were also on the score-sheet as the French champions took an unassailable 4-0 lead.
After dominating the early proceedings, Cavani came close to scoring before Di Maria hit the first goal in the 18th minute with a brilliant free-kick. Nine minutes later, Neymar made a brilliant pass to Andre Gomes but Kevin Trapp did well to deny him. The home team then deservedly doubled their lead after Messi gave up possession to Adrien Rabiot in mid-field before Julian Draxler found the back of the net from a Marco Veratti pass.
The story-line did not change after the break too as Unai Emery’s men dominated the game throughout. They took only 10 minutes to extend their lead when Di Maria curled in a sublime left-footed effort into the corner. Barcelona’s disastrous night was then capped off by Edinson Cavani’s goal 19 minutes from time.

For all PSG's brilliance tonight, I've never seen Barça play as poorly. And I've never seen Messi play as badly. Ever.
