Manchester United legend Paul Scholes finally looks happy with the campaign of Red Devils for the first time since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Scholes has admitted saying: ‘The last couple of years, when I was going into United games I thought, ‘Jeez, here we go again!’
However, the legendary midfielder has also revealed that he does not think Louis van Gaal as a bad manager but insists that his playing style did not suit Manchester United in the last two years. He has also went on to praise current manager Jose Mourinho for his experience to deliver what the fans are expecting of the team.
‘I didn’t say Van Gaal was a bad manager but his style of play wasn’t suited to Man United. His sole thing was keeping possession of the ball and United fans just get bored of that,’ he said.
‘Mourinho came in and knew what the fans expected of his team. He’s certainly tried to do that and since October they’ve looked like a Man United team that wants to score goals,’ he added.
With Chelsea clearly set to win the Premier League this season unless a major debacle, Paul Scholes believes Manchester United has a good chance to finish in the top 3 at the end of the season as they are one of the most in-form teams in the league.
‘They’re playing the best out of the top six with Chelsea and you have to fancy them to finish second or third. Probably third if I had to nail it down.’
Asked about who could finish in the top 4 this season, he predicted: ‘Chelsea, City, United and then it’s between Arsenal and Liverpool.’
Manchester United have been consistent after a late revival of their campaign in October and the Red Devils have never looked back since then as they are arguably the best team in the country in the past four months.
