With an impressive nine wins at the group stage in their inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Gujarat Lions (GL) finished the group stage as the table-toppers before bowing out of the tournament after losing the qualifiers. But there is no denying the fact that they had one of the most balanced teams in the last season and so, the Gujarat-based franchise did not go all out in the recently concluded auction for the upcoming season.

In fact, they remained silent for most part of the opening session before jumping into action in the post-lunch session. But barring England opener Jason Roy, who was bought at his base price of INR 1 Crore, GL did not go after any big name. Overall, they bought 11 players and nine of them were Indian players. Their other foreign recruit apart from Roy was UAE’s Chirag Suri.
