Michael Hussey who has served Australia as a captain and led it to new heights seems quite surprised by MS Dhoni’s recommendation for him as the Coach of Indian Cricket Team. It should be noted that MS Dhoni named Michael Hussey to replace Duncan Fletcher’s after the wrapping up World Cup 2015 when his Fletcher’s contract as the Coach would formally end.
Michael Hussey seemed flabbergasted by the opinion of Dhoni when he stated “I’m not sure if I’m really ready for that sort of challenge.”
He was appreciative of Dhoni’s gesture of naming him as the Coach and expressed so by saying “Thanks, M S, if it’s true … but, I’m still playing!”
It should also be noted that Michael was Dhoni’s teammate at Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. So their bonding seems to go a long way back. Reportedly Dhoni recently described him as “a brilliant thinker and man manager who could bring Gray Kirsten-like calmness and camaraderie on board”.
We can only hope that Dhoni’s judgment proves useful for Team India and Hussey accepts the indirect offer of being Indian Coach and lead Indian team to new heights of success.
