Barcelona are reportedly willing to offer Ivan Rakitic to Real Madrid in order to land Isco in the summer.
Barcelona are determined to prise Isco away from their fierce rivals.
The midfielder has endured a difficult campaign at Real Madrid and looks set to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season.
It was reported last week that Lionel Messi had ordered Barcelona to make Isco their No1 priority for the summer.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim that, in order to appease their star man, the Catalan giants are prepared to offer Rakitic to Madrid to help broker a deal.
The Croatia international has struggled under Luis Enrique and has previously been linked with moves to Manchester United and Manchester City.
But Madrid wanted to sign him in 2015 and could find the prospect of a summer transfer too good to turn down.
Barcelona chiefs are said to believe Rakitic’s departure would not be a huge blow if they land Isco in return.
And with Messi’s contract expiring next summer, and no new deal yet to be agreed, they need to keep the Argentina international happy.
Even Jordi Alba says Isco would be welcomed at Barcelona as the Real Madrid player dallies over his future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Isco is out of contract next summer and has so far refused to commit to Madrid beyond then, saying recently that a decision will be made based on his involvement between now and the end of the season.
It’s fuelled speculation that the Spain international may not only leave the club, but that he could make a sensational move to arch rivals Barca.
But the question is would Barcelona hierarchy welcome a move from the Bernabeu to the Camp Nou? It could possibly happen. It has happened before with many great Barca players from the past. Samuel Eto’o was with Real Madrid, but was loaned three times.
Mallorca then let Barca have him and the rest was history. In addition, current manager Luis Enrique was the last player made the swap from Madrid to Barca in 1996.
