- India Vs Australia, 1987 World Cup: It was one of the glorious matches in the history of the World Cup tournament. In the match, Australia batted first and scored a total of 270 runs for the loss of 6 wickets with Geoff Marsh scoring a fantastic century. In reply, India batted real well and but were unfortunately bundled in 49.5 overs at the score of 269 runs and thus Australia won the match by a matter of 1 run.
- Australia Vs India, 1992 World Cup: It was yet another nail biting clash between India and Australia. After batting first, Australia managed to score a total of 237 runs. The match was played at Brisbane. India batted well and Azharuddin played a brilliant knock of 93 runs for India but were unfortunately bundled at the score of 234 runs in 47 overs and thus Australia won the match by a margin of 3 runs.
- India Vs Zimbabwe, 1999 World Cup: It was the match when the Indian squad were a slight dis-balanced after Sachin Tendulkar left the squad to attend his father’s funeral. Zimbabwe batted first and posed a total of 252 runs. In reply, India were bundled at the score of 249 runs in 45 overs and that led to Zimbabwe winning the match by a margin of 3 runs.
- West Indies Vs South Africa, 2003 World Cup: It was perhaps one of the greatest World Cup matches. It was the first match of the 2003 World Cup. In reply, South Africa fought well but could not manage to retain their final smile as they were restricted at the score of 275 runs which made West Indies victorious by a margin of 3 runs.
- Australia Vs New Zealand, 1987 World Cup: The match was interrupted by rain and it was reduced to a 30-over game. Australia batted first and managed to set up a total of 199 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. In reply, New Zealand fought well but were restricted at the score of 196 runs at the end of 30 overs.
