The Red Devils are still 6th in the points table but are just a couple of points away from a place in the top-4 and Mourinho will hope that his side can keep up the good form to try and qualify for the Champions League come the end of the season.

With the Europa League also providing an opportunity to get into the UCL, Untied have a decent chance of playing in the elite competition next season and Mourinho is already planning for life after the current campaign.

Carrick is currently the second-longest serving player at Old Trafford after captain Wayne Rooney and has made over 400 appearances for the Red Devils, winning five Premier League titles, the Champions League in 2008, the FA Cup in 2016 and three EFL Cups.

He has been integral to United’s success over the last few years and he has today revealed that he is not going to play for another team except United before quitting the game.
