Gautam Gambhir and Delhi coach KP Bhaskar have been summoned by DDCA administrator Vikramjit Sen post the reports of a tussle between the duo. Along with them, Shankar Saini – the team manager – has also been called by the administrator.
Both Gambhir and Bhaskar were in the news after there were reports of the southpaw abusing the coach post Delhi’s poor show in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. After returning to Delhi from Bhubaneshwar, Gambhir – in a chat with PTI- blamed the coach for playing with the careers of youngsters like Unmukt Chand and Nitish Rana. He did not even spare the selectors and blamed them for having a casual approach towards the team.
“Yes, Justice Sen has summoned both Bhaskar and Gambhir along with manager Shankar Saini at 11 am at the DDCSA headquarters in Feroz Shah Kotla ground. It’s still not clear whether he will meet the trio together or separately,” a DDCA official told PTI.
Bhaskar, who was not the first choice of skipper Gautam Gambhir for the coach’s post, was handed the duties before the start of the domestic season. Delhi had a poor run in the tournament as they failed to qualify for the quarters of Ranji Trophy and also didn’t reach the eliminators of Vijay Hazare Trophy after losing the first three games of the tournament.
Selectors then dropped Nitish Rana and Pawan Negi from the squad, bringing back Unmukt Chand – who initially was not a part of the 15-member squad.
This fact irked Gambhir and he vented out his anger on the coach, blaming him for making the youngsters insecure.
