Jose Mourinho Gives Team News Ahead Of Chelsea Clash In FA Cup 1

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have been the busiest club this season in the top flight of English football.

They have already lifted the League Cup earlier in the season and are in a decent position to progress in the Europa League. They are drawn with Chelsea in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup but Mourinho will be confident of his side’s chances in this competition.

They remain unbeaten for more than 4 months now but have just not been able to climb up the points table but at the moment, they are just 3 points off of a place in the top-4 which will be a decent position to finish come the end of the season.

The league game this weekend for United is postponed as they will be busy with their crunch FA Cup tie against Chelsea on Monday.

The Blues beat Wolves in the previous round to set up this sizzling clash with Manchester United and having not lost a game since the start of the year, they are hot favorites to get into the next round.

Jose Mourinho, whose side managed a 1-1 draw against FC Rostov in the Europe league in their previous game is taking the FA Cup seriously and has today revealed that he will go with his strongest side.

United travel to the Bridge just three days after the game in Russia and many have been complaining about the congestion of the fixture list.

However, Mourinho is having none of it. He revealed today that he is going to play the big guns for this game and referred to his junior side coach Nicky Butt, saying he will not lend players from his side for this tie.

“Monday we don’t go with a Nicky Butt team,” he said.

The Red Devils are currently the holders of the FA Cup after Louis van Gaal won it for them in the previous game and Mourinho was adamant that it is an important competition for him as well.

“Manchester United is too big, it is the winner of the competition. It is not Chelsea’s fault that we were given this Monday match so we have to make changes for sure because we play Monday and Rostov play Sunday, but we can’t go to Stamford Bridge with a Nicky Butt team,” he added.

He went on to reveal that it was important for his team to stay strong from now until the end of the season and that they need to keep all their options open until the end.

“We have to keep getting points in the Premier League to let us go to the last month with that door open, and in the Europa League if we manage to go through this round you get to the quarter-final and then you feel the door is open,” he said.

“We have to try by every means. We have a trophy in our pocket which is always a good feeling for everyone,” he added.
