Antonio Conte’s Chelsea will take some stopping this season as they are currently running away with the Premier League title.
The victory over West Ham at the weekend has given them a 10 point lead over Tottenham Hotspur in the second place in the points table with just 11 games to go this season.
It is in their hands to lose this title and Conte will know that he will need his side to be consistent to stay comfortably at the top come the end of the campaign.
They have all but qualified for the Champions League and Conte is now determined to add some star players to the squad to help them compete at the highest level next season.
There are a few places in the squad that need to be strengthened and one player that Conte is determined is the solution is Inter Milan star Antonio Candreva.
The 30-year old Italian international moved to the San Siro just last summer and has been an integral part of the squad this season.
He kicked off his career at youth side Lodigiani before moving to Ternava in 2003 and has also played for Udinese – to go with loan spells at Livorno, Juventus, Parma and Cesena.
He has 8 goals to his name this season in all competitions in Italy and his form has seen Antonio Conte scout for him for a move in the summer.
And according to reports from the Gazzetta dello Sport, Antonio Conte has opened talks with the midfielder and is set to make a £21.5m bid, which should be enough to land him.
Candreva has previous experience of playing under Conte for the Italian national side where he has 6 goals in 44 appearances.
According to that report, Chelsea boss Conte personally called Inter director of sport Piero Ausilio to enquire about the 30-year old for a move at the end of the season.
Capable of playing in a slightly attacking role also, Candreva is an experience campaigner who will add some mettle to the midfield at Chelsea and his versatility will also help the Blues improve their overall quality of the squad.
It is understood that the player is also interested in a move even as he only joined the Italian outfit an year ago.
