Cricket Should Come Back To Pakistan, I’m Pakistani By Heart: Marlon Samuels 1

In a video message posted by Peshawar Zalmi CEO Javed Afridi, West Indies batsman Marlon Samuels has thanked and lauded Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Qamar Javed Bajwa for making the special security arrangements during the much-awaited Pakistan Super League final which was held on Sunday (March 5) at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore before stating cricket should return to Pakistan.

“Security was top class, you couldn’t ask for better security system. Thank army for the way they dealt with things. Cricket should definitely come back to Pakistan. I will continue to come back to this country till I die,” Samuels said in a video message posted by Zalmi owner Javed on his official Twitter handle.

The Peshawar Zalmi recruit Samuels further made a strong statement by saying he is a ‘Pakistani by heart’ and would continue to support for the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.

“I am a Pakistani at heart and that it is why it didn’t take me long to decide to come to Pakistan,” Samuels added.

The 36-year-old Samuels expressed he would be happy to join the Pakistan army when he met Bajwa alongside his team members after beating Quetta Gladiators by 58 runs in the final earlier this month.

While addressing to the Pakistan army chief Samuels in a video said he would be excited to see army badges on his shoulders.

“General [Bajwa], I wouldn’t mind coming back to Pakistan if I am gonna get a metallic badge on my shoulder because I am a general  in Jamaica that’s why I wore my  army suit in Pakistan,” Samuels revealed.

The Jamaican-born has appreciated his teammates for their overwhelming support in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan.

“Whenever you are ready to let me be part of the Pakistan army, I am ready because I am soldier in Jamaica and I want to be part of Pakistan army. Thank you again and I salute you,” Samuels further mentioned.

Samuels has also praised the efforts of his PSL franchise Zalmi owner Javed for his untiring efforts during the second edition of the cash-rich league in a bid to make it a success.

“For me it’s more than just me coming to Pakistan and playing game of cricket. You couldn’t ask for a better host coming to Dubai and then coming to Pakistan,” Samuels said.

Samuels further said he would be overjoyed to see international cricketers visiting Pakistan in the foreseeable future and eventually play cricket to entertain the cricket-starved fans in Pakistan.

However, Javed has praised Samuels for the love of cricket while terming him as the ‘champion’.

“Your golden words are a message for the world that we are a peace loving nation and we love cricket. You are the champions of the hearts,” Javed posted on Twitter with a video message.

Bajwa has also distributed certificates among the players of the PSL team Zalmi while appreciating the efforts of all players which further included foreign recruits in the league.
