Barcelona are keen to sign Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin as he is set to be their top transfer target ahead of summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish media outlet AS claims that Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has met with the right-back’s representatives in London to confirm their interest in buying the talented right back this summer.
The Blaugrana are very much interested in signing the 21-year old as held discussions earlier this season as well. Barcelona eye Bellerin as a long term replacement for Dani Alves who left the club last summer.
Barca has so far failed to replace the legendary defender as they have had their difficulties in that position over the course of the current season. The Spanish giants are also reportedly aware of Manchester City’s interest in the player and are keen to get him well before they face any competition.
Hector Bellerin has signed a six and half year new deal with the club during the ongoing season and his contract will only expire in 2023 which will make it very difficult for Barca to pull off a deal this summer.
Bellerin joined Arsenal at the age of 16 from Barcelona academy and have soon became a out-right choice for the right back position as he is one of the brightest young defenders in entire Europe.
The Spaniard has recently apologized to all their fans after the 5-1 drubbing of Arsenal at Emirates by Bayern Munich in Champions League.
‘I am really hurt because to see the fans leave the stadium so early,’ he told the club’s official website.
‘At the end of the day we play for them, want them to be happy, to be behind us, and it hurts to see them leave so early.
‘We have to say sorry to the fans because we want to do better than that. We just need to try to make them happy with the rest of our season.’
