SW Exclusive: Irfan Pathan Enjoys The Mentor's Role In Baroda Team 1

There were all smiles in the Baroda camp at the end of the first quarter-final game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2016/17. Irfan Pathan was a busy man. At the end of the game, the Irfan’s fans entered the playing area and were busy taking selfies and autographs of the Baroda skipper. The Indian all-rounder also didn’t upset the fans as he took out ample of time to let the fans live their dream, before rushing to nets for some knocking as he explains that he needs to do attend a practice session before sunset.

“It all about giving back to Baroda cricket and the youngsters. It feels quite well to talk to them and some times mentor these guys in the nets and on the field and when the boys play well. It feels quite well,” an elated Irfan Pathan told Sportzwiki praising youngsters Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda.

Pathan was a busy man all day round as apart from setting field, he kept himself engaged as he had a talk with each and every bowler before the start of a new over. He was keeping a check on every activity and it was the keen vigilance which he produced results on the field at the end of the day.

Baroda will take on Tamil Nadu in the next game on March 16 at Feroz Shah Kotla and Irfan is hopeful that the team will be able to continue the dominance, it has shown, in the semi-final game,

“It would be difficult of course. With each step, the competition level increases but I hope that we will be able to continue our current form. We are playing good cricket and will be looking to play the same way,” Irfan concluded before rushing towards nets.
