Former India batsman VVS Laxman has reportedly joined Team India in Dubai ahead of the Asia Cup 2022. Team India head coach Rahul Dravid is currently in India after testing positive for Covid-19. He was tested before the team’s departure and was tested positive. The BCCI stated that Dravid is being monitored by the team doctors and will join the team once he returns a negative test.
But before that, VVS Laxman has joined the team in Dubai as the Men in Blue prepare for the continental championship. The batting legend has filled in as the head coach for Team India on a couple of occasions in recent months. In June, he served as the head coach for the T20I series in Ireland when Dravid was in England with the Test team.
Recently, he was the head coach for the three-match ODI series in Zimbabwe too. According to Cricbuzz, VVS Laxman has stayed back in Dubai on return from Harare. The rest of the squad, which played in the Zimbabwe series and not part of the Asia Cup contingent, have returned to India. The report further stated that Laxman will be the temporary coach of the Indian side for Asia Cup 2022.
