Ahead of the upcoming clash between India and Pakistan in Asia Cup 2022, Virat Kohli and Shaheen Afridi shared a heartwarming exchange on the training ground. Asia Cup 2022 is scheduled to get underway on Saturday (August 27). In the first game of the continental championship, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will be locking horns against each.

On the next day, India and Pakistan will take the field to resume their rivalry on the cricket field. This will be their first meeting of the year. They had last played against each other in T20 World Cup 2021. On that occasion, Pakistan had emerged victorious after inflicting a humiliating 10-wicket loss on the Men in Blue. Defending Asia Cup champions India would be keen to avenge that loss and begin their title defence on a winning note.

Shaheen Afridi and Virat Kohli share heartwarming exchange:

And ahead of the much-anticipated clash, Virat Kohli and Shaheen Afridi shared a beautiful moment. Afridi has been ruled out of the competition owing to a knee injury. The left-arm pacer was named in the squad but has failed to recover in time for the tournament. He has been replaced by Mohammad Hasnain in Pakistan’s squad for Asia Cup 2022.

And despite the injury, Afridi has stayed with the Pakistan team to continue his rehabilitation. On Friday, Pakistan Cricket Board released a video in which several India stars met Afridi and wished him a quick recovery. Virat Kohli was one of the India players who met the Pakistan star. The conversation began with Kohli asking Afridi about his injury.

And as Kohli was about to walk away, Afridi told him: “Aapke liye dua kar rahe hai, aapki form wapas aa jaye (We are praying for you to get your form back).” As soon as Afridi said those words, Kohli started smiling and thanked the bowler before walking away.
