Virat Kohli on way to his 55 runs unbeaten innings against Pakistan at the Eden Gardens, March 119, 2016.

India extended their run of wins to 10 against Pakistan in ICC Tournaments with a 6-wkt win at Eden Gardens earlier today. The match was played at a different pace with pitch supporting the spinners and the game ended up being a low-scoring affair.

On the wake of this historic win, we take a look at four key reasons why India were able to beat Pakistan in another World Cup contest.

1. Economical opening overs – Well the Indian bowlers bowled really tight spells in the starting overs. Nehra and Ashwin both did not gave a single chance to batsmen to score runs. On a turner pitch Jadeja too played his role perfectly and gave away just 20 runs in 4 overs. The trio of Nehra, Ashwin and Jadeja was successful to bowl tight and lengths and stopped the flow of runs in the starting overs. Due to this Pakistani team could not lay a strong foundation which helped the hosts later in the match.

2. Brilliant Fielding – The Indian players were quite active on the field today. Starting from that catch from Hardik Pandya, The all rounder nearly ran 20-25 meters to take that absolutely brilliant catch to dismiss Sharjeel Khan. Other fielders too showed attentiveness on the field and nearly saved 15-20 runs on the field which really helped Indian team to win the match.

3. Virat-Yuvi partnership – Indian team did not had a good start as Rohit Sharma once again failed to score big. Shikhar Dhawn and Raina disappointed the fans once again as both were dismissed on consecutive deliveries. All eyes were on Kohli and Yuvi as fans were hoping for a big partnership from them. They both were really good on the field as they both shared a partnership of 61 runs between them. In between they both played wisely as earlier in the innings they both rotated strike and once when they both were settled they changed their batting gears and scored at a faster rate. During the course Yuvraj got out but laid a strong foundation before getting out.

4. Kohli Heroics – The most consistent and star batsman of India Virat Kohli once again took the charge and proved that why he is called next Sachin Tendulkar. The vice captain took on the charge and went onto score 55 runs. He played a perfect innings as in the starting he showed no rush but once when he was settled in the middle then he started playing his shots. He played perfectly according to the situation of the game and helped Indian team to win the match. He was also awarded man of the match award for his brave innings.
