5 Incidents When Teammates Lost Their Cool on The Field
From the cricket to football, hockey to rugby, every sport is about the game of emotions. The professional players have been seen crying, fighting and eventually celebrating each other’s success. But some untoward incidents ended up into a squabble. There is no sport where we haven’t seen players fighting. As we all know, a spark can turn into a fire.
In a wider spectrum, cricket is said to be a gentleman game. But, things have changed–there were incidents when players have lost their temper on the field. Not only rivals have exchanged heated arguments, but at the same time, teammates have fought against each other.
Here are the 5 incidents when teammates have fought in the field:
Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja:
In the 2013 tri-series, Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina got engaged in a feud. After winning the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy in England, the Indian team travelled to the West Indies shores for the Tri-nation competition. In the match against host side Windies, Jadeja had a heated argument with teammate Raina which visibly speculated a rift in the team.
Jadeja was also involved in a fight with the lanky pacer, Ishant Sharma.
The incident took place when Raina misfielded and left the catch of Sunil Narine on the bowling of Jadeja. The all-rounder was left fumed and said harsh words to his teammate.
However, Raina also didn’t stop himself and counter-attacked Jadeja. Both were intervened by teammates. Virat Kohli, the stand-in captain, stopped the players before the things could have further gone worse.
Though at the end of the match, Raina was seen talking to Jadeja while beaming a smile. He might be explaining to him the reason for misjudging the catch.
Now, the players don’t have any grudges and presently, they both play for Chennai Super Kings(CSK) in the Indian Premier League(IPL).
