5 Indian players who grabbed the chance in ODI series against Zimbabwe

The Indian team won the ODI series 3-0 against Zimbabwe. This was a chance for the fringe players who have been performing well in domestic circuit to do well in the series. India played some excellent cricket in the ODI series. They showed that they have good skills and if given a chance, they can be aggressive. Here we look at the 5 Indian players who grabbed their chance in ODI series against Zimbabwe.

  1.             Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav has only played 4 One day Internationals so far. In this One day International series he was given a chance to score big runs. In the first One day International he scored 5 runs, while in the second One day International he scored 16 runs. In the third One day International India were struggling at 82 for 4. He walked in and did the repair works. He rotated the strike well with some odd hits to the boundary and eventually scored his maiden One day International century. He remained unbeaten on 105 off 87 balls and helped India to post a competitive total of 276 for 5.

  1.             Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey made his One day International debut in the third ODI of the series and played a sensible knock that saved India from blushes. When Pandey walked in to bat at the fall of Manoj Tiwary’s wicket, India were struggling with just 68 runs on the board with 3 batsmen already back in the pavilion and soon the wicket of Robin Uthappa dashed India’s hopes of a competitive total. But Pandey, in the company of Jadhav did well and took India to a good total. He made 71 off 86 balls and looked throughout his innings.

  1.             Amabti Rayadu

Amabti Rayadu has not got enough chances in the Indian team. Whenever he was given a chance he performed well. He scored his first One day International ton against Sri Lanka in 2014. In this series the top players were rested. In the Zimbabwe One day International series he showed maturity. In the first One day International, India were struggling at 82 for 5 and Rayudu played sensibly and put on a 160 run partnership with Binny. He scored 125 and helped India to reach a competitive total. In the second One day International the openers laid a foundation and Rayadu scored 41 runs. He was named the man of series for his contributions.   

  1.             Stuart Binny

Stuart Binny played a crucial role in helping India clean sweep the series. He contributed with both bat and ball. In the first match when India was struggling at 82 for 5. He scored 75 runs and also picked 2 wickets. In the second match of series he scored 25 off 16 balls. He has been in the Indian ODI squad for a while but did not get enough chances. In the third match he scored a quick fire 18 off 8 balls and also picked 3 wickets. He is proving to be genuine all-rounder that the team badly needs.

  1.             Bhuvneshwar Kumar   

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was struggling to get a game in the World Cup 2015 and also dropped down on his pace. In this series, he was the pick of the Indian fast bowlers picking 1 wicket in the first One day Internationals and 4 wickets in the second One day International. He bowled with control and swung the ball both ways. This series proved that with his fitness back he will be still the main bowler for India.
