With the first semi finals to be played on the 24th March at Auckland between South Africa and NewZealand it looks like to high scoring affair with big hitters on both the sides. South Africa played an excellent game against Sri Lanka in quarter finals while NewZeleand trashed the hopless West Indies.
Here we look at the 5 players to watch out for in South Africa Vs NewZealand.
1. Martin Guptil
Martin Guptil has been in excellent form in the past 2 matches against Bangladesh and West Indies. He scored a century against Bangladesh. He played some excellent shots and made sure that the home team won the last league match. In the quarter finals against West Indies he played one of finest innings of the World Cup history scoring 237 and remained not out. He hit 24 fours and 11 sixes. He played some excellent shots of both spinners and fast bowlers. In the semi final against South Africa he will be an important member for the home team to provide a good start for the team and continue his form.
2. AB De Villers
AB De Villers will be an important member for South Africa in terms of captaincy and as a player who can change the course of the game. Against Sri Lanka he was spot on with field placement and was rewarded as South Africa bowled out Sri Lanka for paltry 133 which South Africa chased down easily. He needs to be aggressive in this crucial match against NewZeleand to raise the bar of the game and create pressure on the home team. He needs to be mentally ready.
3. Brendon Mcullum
Brendon Mcllum another key player for the home team. He provides the team with quick fire starts to the team from which the others can build upon. Being the captain of the team he has instilled a fearless attitude in the team and the results are showing. He has provided brilliant starts to the team. Against South Africa the responblity lies on him to give a quick start and be aggressive as a captain.
4. Dale Steyn
Dale Steyn another key bowler for South Africa. He has not been at his usual best, but against Sri Lanka he bowled fast and created pressure on the Sri Lankan batting line. In the semi finals against NewZeleand he needs to bowl well if they need to restrict the opponents to total which South Africa can chase. The time has come for Dale Steyn to prove his mettle and be the match winner, also help South Africa to reach their first finals in World Cup history.
5. Trent Boult
Trent Boult is the leading wicket taker in the tournament so far. He has bowled with pace and did not allow the batsmen to settle to hit big strokes. Against West Indies he picked 4 wickets and broke the backbone of the West Indies batting line up. The main challenge for Trent Boult is to pick early wickets to put pressure on the South African batting.
