AB de Villiers has been nominated for the Award of the ” South African Cricketer of the Year ” for the 2nd consecutive time. The Award ceremony will take place on June 3 at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg.

Aslam Khota, the Convener of the judging process said that it took sometime for the judging panel to decide the list as they South African cricket witnessed some good performance from the boys , both at the National and International level.

de Villiers will have to compete against the likes of Test Skipper Hashim Amla, Batsman Faf duPlesis and fast bowlers Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel. deVilliers has also been nominated for the ” ODI Cricketer of the Year Award”.

de Villiers , who is currently playing in the IPL for Bangalore RoyalChallengers , played a gem of an innings against Mumbai Indians on his way to a brilliant century . He went on to score 133 runs , which is the Highest score in the IPL by an Non-Opening Batsman.
