AB deVilliers, the ODI skipper of South Africa, has won the ‘ South African Sportsperson of the year’ award. He has had a terrific run in the ODIs and hasn’t been out of form for long. He is currently leading South African side against India in the ODIs. The series is currently levelled at 1-1 and both the teams are playing the 3rd ODI at Rajkot.

Earlier this year, deVilliers broke Corey Anderson’s record of the fastest cenutury in the ODIs. He scored in it in just 31 balls against West Indies, breaking Anderson’s record who did it in 36 balls, also against West Indies. So far, deVilliers has scored 3 ODI centuries this year.

In the T20s, deVilliers hasn’t had that much success, with just a fifty in 6 matches, but his strike rate had made up for it. His strike rate is more than 130. In Test cricket, South Africa hasn’t played much of that this year. In the only Test deVilliers played this year, he scord 148 runs against West Indies. South Africa now has a Test series against India, after the completion of the ODI series.
