Mumbai all-rounder Abhishek Nayar, who suffered a head injury on day 1 of the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Karnataka has been advised rest for fourteen days, but he walked out to bat towards the end of 3rd day.

The sight of Abhishek Nayar coming out to the wicket amazed everyone, considering that he was out of the hospital only the previous day, having diagnosed concussions and also had some minor breathing problems, after reaching the land on the back of his head while fielding on 1st day.

Consultant Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Specialist at the HOSMAT hospital, Dr. Thomas Chandy said that he advised Abhishek Nayar not to lean on the back of his head, Abhishek Nayar’s CT scans of Brain and Cervical spine are all-right. He is advised not play cricket for 14-15 days and to take rest as he had a concussive head injury.

When there raised a debate on if his comeback to the field, the all-rounder sprang a surprise by coming out to his squad’s rescue. When Mumbai skipper Aditya Tare was asked about the day’s play, he replied that it was Nayar’s decision to play a further part in this match and he was mot uncomfortable while batting.

When Aditya Tare was asked if Nayar was struggling he answered that he played 40 balls, he did not look uncomfortable. He played against a good bowling attack, and stayed in the field for 40 balls. He added that the head injury might be painful, but he is a warrior player. He has done it for Mumbai all his career. Aditya Tare said he was ready to bat and all the doctors had cleared him.

Shreyas Gopal, Karnataka leg-spinner spoke at the post day press conference. He said that his squad was surprised at the sight of Abhishek Nayar coming out. He added that no one hoped that. He was in the ICU is what they heard. According to him, it could either be a ridiculous move or a brave move.
