Hasin Jahan, Mohammed Shami’s wife has now admitted that Board of Contol for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) head Neeraj Kumar did not meet her during their meeting. Also, she wants the probe report prepared by ACU chief Neeraj Kumar to be made public.
Meanwhile, BCCI recently gave Shami a green signal on the alleged match-fixing charges and awarded him a Grade B contract. The premier pacer is now available to play in the Indian Premier League beginning from April 7 in Mumbai.
However, BCCI initially withheld his contract after his wife Hasin brought an array of allegations against him. She charged him with domestic violence and adultery.
Hasin also admitted that Shami has fixed matches and has allegedly taken money from a Pakistani-based girl Alishba.
“I am not surprised [with BCCI’s move to award Shami a contract]. But Neeraj Kumar never met me. I only met few a junior-level officials, supposedly sent by him,” Jahan told mid-day.
Meanwhile, Jahan’s lawyer Jakir Hussain admitted that they have all photographs and evidence related to Shami’s character. They also want BCCI to make the report public.
“We submitted all photographs and evidence related to Shami’s character. Our main concern was his connection with this woman, and BCCI withheld his contract on the basis of his poor image because then, the fixing allegations hadn’t surfaced. We will request BCCI to make the probe report public,” Hussain said.
Meanwhile, BCCI not considering the personal allegation against Shami surprised Jahan. She also met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to seek justice in this matter.
“It is not going to make any difference if he starts playing again, but what about his character? It’s surprising that the BCCI has not considered his character and said they are not concerned about his personal life,” she concluded.
