Australian spinner Adam Zampa is looking to be an option for RCB to bowl during death overs. Zampa was brought to RCB as a replacement for Australian pacer Kane Richardson. Richardson withdrew from the tournament because he and his wife are expecting the birth of their first child. The addition of Zampa further strengthens RCB’s spin attack which already comprises Yuzvendra Chahal, Washington Sundar. Moeen Ali and Pawan Negi. The slow and dry pitches of UAE favour the spinners more and RCB can capitalize.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore squad have started their training after completing the mandatory quarantine. Zampa is currently touring England with Australia, playing a white ball series which will end on the 16th of September.
“I love those pressure overs especially when the game is on the line”: Adam Zampa
Adam Zampa says he loves to bowl in the death overs and would like to get the opportunity to bowl at the death for RCB too. He told about the second T20I against England in the series which recently concluded, his over didn’t go according to plan, and England won but his attitude remains the same, and he still wants to bowl death overs.
“I really enjoy bowling at the death, I love those pressure overs especially when the game is on the line. They needed (18) to win off the last two overs (in the second T20) and I told Finchy I should bowl it. It obviously didn’t go to plan but I’m not going to change my attitude after one game,” cricket.com.au quoted Adam Zampa as saying.
Adam Zampa is excited to bowl with Yuzvendra Chahal
Zampa is looking ahead to partner with RCB leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. He said he loves bowling with other spinners in the team and with Chahal, it will be a good opportunity to learn from each other. The team’s structure makes Zampa feel he might get the opportunity to bowl death overs.
“I’ve got a really good opportunity in the IPL bowling with Chahal at RCB and I might get the opportunity to bowl those overs just because of the way the team is structured. I really enjoy bowling with another leg-spinner so it’s going to be a really good opportunity to bowl with Chahal. We have similar traits but can learn a little bit from each other as well,” Adam Zampa said.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on the 21st of September. The IPL 2020 will begin from September 19 till November 10, a total 53-day campaign will see all the eight teams play in UAE. The venue this time is UAE and matches will be played in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.
