My Aim Is To Perform Well, Says Rishabh Pant

The left-handed wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has expressed delight after being picked for the upcoming limited-overs series against Windies while revealing he is focused on giving his best for the Team India and delivering up to his expectations.

“Happy, that I’m selected for West Indies tour. My aim is to perform well,” Rishabh Pant told ANI.

The promising prospect rookie Pant is hopeful to learn from his seniors on the Carribean tour which is comprised of five One-day Internationals and a solitary Twenty20 International, as the ODI series will kick start at the Queen’s Park Oval, in Port of Spain from June 23.

“I will learn from my seniors, focus on my game. Hope I’ll perform well in the tour,” Pant maintained.

The 19-year-old Haridwar-born Pant made his international debut against England in February this year where he remained unbeaten on five.

Seen as the talented player, Pant has made his first-class debut in 2015. He has featured in 11 games, in which he has amassed 1,101 runs, at an impressive average of 68.61 which further was comprised of four hundreds and three fifties.

In the recently concluded 10th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), Pant was the part of Delhi-based franchise Delhi Daredevils led by Zaheer Khan.

In 2017 season of IPL, Panty registered two fifties as he registered 366 runs at an average of 26.14 in 14 matches.

In October 2016, Pant has shown his brilliance in Ranji Trophy with the bat by registering a scintillating 308 off 326 deliveries for Delhi against Maharashtra at the iconic Wankhade stadium.

Interestingly, he became the fourth-youngest player in India to register triple hundred in first-class cricket after Abhinav Mukund and Wasim Jaffer.

In 11 List A games, Pant has a little success with an average of 20.63 which saw him scoring 227 runs. His 50-over domestic games have a solitary fifty to his name.

Moreover, having the better average of 26.20 in 28 T20, Pant has registered three fifties to register 629 runs.

It’s pertinent to note, the selection committee of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has omitted batsman Rohit Sharma and fast bowler from the 15-member squad, as the squad was revealed on Thursday (June 15).

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee met earlier today [Thursday] to select the India Cricket Team for the upcoming India’s tour of the West Indies, 2017,” BCCI release maintained.
