Aise Jeetenge Hum World Cup: Fans Slam Rohit Sharma After His Poor Captaincy Decision Cost India Second T20I Against West Indies

India skipper Rohit Sharma is facing criticism from the fans after one of his decisions could not yield the desired results during the second T20I against West Indies on Monday (August 1). West Indies beat India by 5 wickets in the match to draw level in the five-match series.
Asked to bat first, India could not do well with the bat and were all out for a modest total of 138. Rohit Sharma was out for a golden duck in the very first over and India never recovered from that setback. The visitors kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually all out for 138. Hardik Pandya top-scored for India with a run-a-ball 31.

For West Indies, Obed McCoy was the pick of the bowlers, taking 6 wickets for just 17 runs while Jason Holder also picked up 2 wickets. Chasing 139, West Indies crossed the finishing line in the last over of the match. Opener Brandon King was the top-scorer for the hosts, scoring 68 while wicketkeeper Devon Thomas also played a crucial unbeaten knock of 31 off just 19 balls.
Rohit Sharma faces criticism for poor decision:
With India losing the game, the fans have been criticising Rohit Sharma for one of his captaincy decisions. With 10 runs needed off the final over, Rohit handed the ball to Avesh Khan instead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar who had two overs left. Rohit’s surprising and bold move did not get the desired the results as Avesh gave away the runs in just 2 balls.

The right-arm pacer bowled a no-ball first-up, and went on to concede a six off the first legitimate ball of the over. The match ended the very next delivery as Thomas smashed the India youngster for a four. And as Avesh failed to defend the runs, the fans have criticised Rohit for his decision to not hand the ball to Bhuvneshwar.
Here are some of the reactions:
Why? Why not experienced and one of the finest death over bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar? Why Avesh khan?
Rohit Sharma proved why he is an average captain.#IndvsWI

What a win! West Indies have defeated a full strength India side by 5 wickets to level the series 1-1. Take a bow, Thomas!
Strangely, Rohit Sharma didn't give the last over to Bhuvneshwar Kumar. 10 runs were too much to chase on this pitch, poor captaincy. #WIvIND

If Bhuvneshwar Kumar was injured or had a niggle, then fair and square. But if this was just an experiment, it was very poor considering we haven't already won the series. #WIvIND

What was that from Rohit? Why didn't he go with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. You need your most experienced bowler in this kind of situation. It was always going to be a tough task for Avesh Khan to defend 10 runs from 6 balls. #WIvIND #INDvWI

10 needed from 6 balls and vada paav gave the ball to Avesh Khan instead of experienced Bhuvi 🤣😂😂😂
Aise jeetenge hum world cup. I stand with Avesh Khan 👍

I ask just one question why this Indian team doing experiments.
First they doing Experiments in batting now today they did in also bowling.
When u have vast experience Bhuvi then why u hand over last Over to Avesh khan.
This experiment cost India.

Rohit Sharma throwing Avesh Khan to the wolves …!!!
I mean, what is the rationale for not bowling Bhuvi in the final over?
Given that you are definitely taking him to Australia (from the look of things).

Irrespective of the result from India, credit for bringing the game till the last over. Arshdeep should be on the plane to Australia, what a character he is. Him Bumrah bowling in tandem will be a sight to behold.
One question Rohit, why would not give the ball to Bhuvi?
— Abilash Kumar (@abilashk99) August 1, 2022
Unless Bhuvi was injured or India wanted to test other personnel, it was tough to understand why 18th & 20th overs were not bowled by Bhuvi. Seldom batters bat out of position. No reason to tinker with the bowling plans
