Want to be a professional cricketer?
India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is celebrating his 32nd birthday today and the cricket fraternity poured in the wishes for the right-handed batsman. Rahane is well known for scoring runs in overseas conditions and he is one of the rare batsmen whose foreign batting average is more than the home average. However, the right-hander is not in the best of forms in the recent past.
Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane has played some fine knocks for the Indian team. Rahane had scored 103 runs in India’s famous Lord’s Test win in 2014. The right-hander had also played a magnificent knock of 147 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia in 2014. The stylish batsman had added 262 runs with Virat Kohli, who had scored 169.
Ajinkya Rahane will look to get back in the form
Rahane has thus far played 65 Test matches for the Indian team. The Mumbai batsman has amassed 4203 runs at an average of 42.88. Rahane has scored 11 Test centuries and has 22 half-centuries under his belt.
However, the right-hander hasn’t been able to cement his place in the limited-overs side due to the mundane strike rate. He has scored 2982 runs in 90 ODI matches at an average of 36.26 and a strike rate of 78.63.
On the other hand, Rahane will play for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season of the India Premier League. The IPL has been deferred indefinitely due to coronavirus pandemic.
Ajinkya Rahane is a brilliant slip fielder though he is positioned more at gully by skipper Virat Kohli. The Mumbai player has great hands and he has been a perfect catcher for the team in the red-ball version.
Furthermore, Rahane is always known to play the game in the right spirit. Rahane is never seen engaging in the verbal battle with the opposition player and he is a perfect team man.
