Ajinkya Rahane revealed why he did not stop Kohli sledging Mitch Johnson

On India’s tour of Australia 2014-2015, Mitchell Johnson tried to get under the skin of Indian batsman Virat Kohli with constant sledging in the Melbourne Test. But the aggressive Indian batsman counter sledged Johnson and was on top of the Aussie, if you go by what his team-mate Rahane said.

Indian Test team vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane revealed one particular scenario in Virat-Johnson saga.

Rahane said, “ I was at the non-striking end  when Mitchell Johnson was sledging Virat, first I thought to calm down Virat. But I observed that Johnson was not enjoying the moment so he wanted to talk to Virat about it. And Virat, on the other hand, was not having any problem and batting well.”

Australia batting first scored 530. Steve Smith scored 192.  India in reply scored 465. Murali Vijay  scored 68  while Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane  scored 169 and 147 respectively. The match was drawn.

Rahane in his interview standout cricket comedian Vikram Sathaye said, “we didn’t go to Australia only to play, but also dominate as domination will bring you to the next level.”

India lost the series to Australia by 2-0, but the series could have been a draw. In the first Test at Adelaide, Oval, India got a chance to beat Australia but Virat Kohli’s departure after scoring a hundred left India’s long tail, who failed to play Nathan Lyon’s spin, was expsoed and India lost by 48 runs.
