The former Under 19 fast bowler Alzarri Joseph who made his debut in the third Test against India during India tour of West Indies has been selected for the ODI squad for the series against Pakistan in U.A.E. Joseph was bowling brilliantly throughout the Test match and Indian batsmen seemed to be quite uncomfortable whilst facing him. Along with him, the West Indies Test opener Craig Braithwaite who enjoyed a mixed success in the Test series has also been included in the ODI squad for the first time in five years of his international career. The selectors have also selected the Florida centurion Evin Lewis for the ODI’s.
Gayle’s unavailability came as a boon for youngsters as it opened the doors for them to get selected in the national team.
The selectors have made two unavoidable changes in T20 squad. Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell replace the unavailable Gayle and unfit Lendl Simmons. Rest of the team remains unchanged.
Earlier there were rumours that the Jason Holder might be sacked as the ODI captain but selectors continued to show faith in him.
The West Indies team will play Pakistan in U.A.E. The series will kick off with 3 T20Is followed by 3 match ODI series. 3 Test matches series will mark the end of West Indies stay in U.A.E.
