After the completion of the ICC World Cup 2019, the major topic in the Indian Cricket was the selection of the players and their batting order. Meanwhile, the latest applicant for the head coach Robin Singh highlights the poor calls of the management and their strategy with Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu.
A lot of criticism came for Indian skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri after they sent Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya ahead of former skipper MS Dhoni, who eventually came in at No. 7 to give a spirited fight before the final outcome of the match.
Former Indian cricketer, Robin Singh has taken a dig at current Indian coach Ravi Shastri by saying that Team India has now lost two successive World Cup semifinals under Shastri’s coaching.
Ambati Rayudu and Ajinkya Rahane would have been in my team – Robin Singh
In addition to a loss in the semifinal of the 2016 ICC World T20. He also felt that Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu deserved to be in the Indian World Cup squad.
Speaking to Hindu, Robin Singh quoted that Ravi Shastri failed to guide the team at key moments during the world cup. He believes that change in Team management would be an ideal option. Further, he highlighted the vows at number 4 for the team for a long time now.
“Under the current coach, India has lost in the semi-finals of two successive ODI World Cups, and in the last four stages of the World Twenty20 championship as well. Now is the time to prepare for the 2023 World Cup and a change could be good for the side. Both Ambati Rayudu and Ajinkya Rahane would have been there in my team,” the 55-year-old Singh said.
Further, he also cited that Virat Kohli should have played down the order with MS Dhoni at number 5. Robin Singh added that he would have ensured Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni form a pair in the middle, which would have been ideal for the team in those tough conditions.
