Anil Kumble hails Ashwin as the best spinner in the world: As we are inching closer to the main round of the World T20, the excitement level of the people is also soaring high. The World T20 started from 8th March and currently the qualifiers and warm-ups are taking place before the main round of the event begins from March 15 with India taking on New Zealand at Nagpur.

India is being looked upon as the hot favorites of the big event. As reported by the FirstPost, the former Indian Captain, Anil Kumble was quoted saying, “The world cup is round the corner and I am hoping that India will bring the cup.”

Currently, India is on a 7 match winning streak in T20 internationals. While, the Men in Blue have won 10 out of their last 11 T20I matches. In the Warm-up game against West Indies, India emerged victorious by 45 runs. Kumble further expressed his opinion about India’s highly rated off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin. The 45-year-old said, “He is really capable. Probably he is the number one spinner in the world and performed well over the years.”

Offlate, R Ashwin has been in the form of his life. This year, the Indian offie is the second highest wicket-taker in T20 internationals. While, he is the leading wicket-taker for India in T20Is, this year. In 2016, Ashwin has claimed 17 wickets in 11 T20I matches at an economy of 5.68 runs per over which is exceptional, to say the least. In Indian conditions which provide ample support to the spinners, India’s chances in the tournament will depend upon the performance of the spinners. The Tamil Nadu spinner leads the Indian spin department and forms a deadly combo with Ravindra Jadeja.

Both the Indian spinners hunt in a pair and their current run of form is posing a threat to all the participants of the World T20. Recently, the likes of Virender Sehwag and Kapil Dev had also outlined India as the primary contenders for the prized crown of the World T20.
