Arjun Tendulkar Gives Jonny Bairstow Injury Scare Ahead Of Lord’s Test

Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar, gave England a big injury scare ahead of their series-opener against South Africa when the aspiring cricketer nearly ruled Jonny Bairstow out of the game which starts on Friday (July 6) at the iconic Lord’s.

Arjun, a left-arm pacer who has practised with England before, was once again practising with the Three Lions on Wednesday morning when Bairstow came out for some batting practice. However, the English star could face only one ball, as he was forced to cut his session short after being struck on the foot by a yorker from Arjun according to the Daily Mail.

“Jonny Bairstow suffered an unexpected injury scare ahead of the first Test against South Africa at Lord’s. The 27-year-old was pinned on the foot by a yorker from the teenage son of Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar. Bairstow hobbled out of the nets after facing only one delivery from the 17-year-old Arjun Tendulkar,” read a report from English news outlet.

But fortunately, the injury is not serious and the right-handed batsman is ready to take up wicketkeeping duties for England in the first Test.

England Start As Favourites:

England will be keen to start their journey under new skipper Joe Root on a good note against the world number two side which will be without its skipper Faf du Plessis. While the records in the last few series tilt the balance in South Africa’s favour but given the present form, England will start the match as favourites.

The Three Lions have already defeated the Proteas in ODI and T20 series and will be confident of continuing their dominance in the longest format of the game as well.
