The experts say that the bowler should aim to hit the top of off-stump. This is what exactly the number one Test bowler, Pat Cummins did when Joe Root came to the crease in the second innings of the fourth Ashes Test match at Old Trafford. The ball moved a fraction from the right-hander and hit the bullseye to sent Joe Root packing.

Cummins was able to get two wickets in two balls as Joe Root was dismissed for a golden duck. In fact, this was the third time in the ongoing series when Root was dismissed without troubling the scorers.

Australia was able to take two wickets in the first three balls of the innings and it was an ideal start for the visitors after they posted an imposing target of 383 runs for the hosts.

Pat Cummins was also able to get rid of Rory Burns on the second ball of the innings. Both Burns and Joe Root were the top-scorers for England with 81 and 71 respectively in the first innings. Thus, both were crucial breakthroughs for the tourists.

Meanwhile, England was able to manage to go back to the dressing room without any further damage in the wickets column on the penultimate day.

Subsequently, Australia is in the driver’s seat as the visitors have taken four wickets and are only six scalps away from retaining the Ashes. Pat Cummins has been the pick of the Australian bowlers as the gun pacer has taken all the four wickets.

Cummins was able to get rid of Jason Roy and England’s Leeds hero Ben Stokes. The hosts’ are tottering at 74-4 and they would need another miracle to draw the ongoing Test match.

Meanwhile, Steven Smith has been once again the star of the show for the tourists. The former skipper scored a fine knock of 211 in the first essay and also backed it up with 82 runs in the second dig.
