Indian veteran wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik hailed England veteran pacer Stuart Broad for picking up his 600th wicket in Test cricket. The 36-year-old is the only second fast bowler and second bowler from England to reach the milestone after James Anderson in International Cricket.
Stuart Broad has played exceedingly well for England in test cricket over the last 16 years. The approach with which England has played has changed in recent times and the right-arm pacer is an important member of England’s team and has seen a lot of up and down throughout his career.
Speaking on Skysports Cricket, Dinesh Karthik hailed Stuart Broad for his phenomenal performance for England in test cricket and believes that he gets better with the challenges ahead of him and also lauded him for consistent bowling with the same pace throughout the years.
“What Broad has brought to the table is resilience. What he has also achieved is the most wickets in Ashes for England, which is a great credential to have. Shows you the mettle of the man, the bigger the test, he comes out even better,” he added.
“He has been around for 17 years now and while he has kept the same volume of deliveries, the pace hasn’t dropped off and that’s what is special for me,” Dinesh Karthik said.
Stuart Broad became only the fifth bowler in the format with 600 or more wickets, along with Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne, James Anderson, and Anil Kumble. The England veteran has picked up 841 wickets in 342 games across formats and will look to continue their fine form going into the next few years.
England Will Still Be Driving With That Vision Irrespective – Kumar Sangakkara
Former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara feels that England is playing an aggressive and entertaining brand of test cricket, with attracts the fans back into the game for the longer format of the game and hailed the England team management for playing this brand of cricket and believes that this Ashes series is just the journey of them redefining the red-ball cricket.
“England has that larger vision of entertaining and rejuvenating Test cricket, bringing the kids and the crowds back. For Ben Stokes, Director of Cricket Robert Key, And Brendon McCullum, the Ashes is just a step on that journey. It’s not a defining moment. They would love to win it and have Ashes at home. But they will still be driving with that vision irrespective,” Kumar Sangakkara said.
England’s team has gone through some structural changes after their humiliating loss against 4-0 Australia in the previous ashes tour, with Ben Stokes taking up the captaincy and Brendon McCullum being the head coach, the team played some dominating all around the world and will look to continue the aggressive brand of cricket going forward in International Cricket.
