Ashok Dinda Dropped From Ranji Trophy Squad For Abusing Bowling Coach

Out-of –favour India pacer Ashok Dinda has been dropped from the Bengal’s Ranji Trophy squad for abusing bowling coach, Ranadeb Bose. As per multiple reports, Dinda has had strained relation with the bowling coach for a long time but on this occasion, he abused Bose in front of players. Bose lodged a complaint with Cricket Association of Bengal, which asked Dinda to apologise to the senior player.

Dinda refused to come up with an apology and was dropped. He was a part of the squad earlier and CAB had to come with a new squad following the update.

This isn’t the first time that Dinda has been dropped in the ongoing season. He was kept out of the squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, following which he did not turn up for the training sessions. There were reports that he is also considering to join another team as a professional.

Dinda was named in the Ranji Trophy squad and scalped three wickets in first fixture against Kerala but there is every possibility that he might not join the squad now, should he not apologise to the coach. He is expected to miss the remainder of the season and turn up for any other state as a professional in 2020/21 season.

The right-arm pacer had recently gone unsold in IPL 2020 auction as well. Dinda’s name didn’t feature in the initial list. He, along with five other players, was added to the list on the day of the auction. Dinda hasn’t played an IPL game since 2017.

The 35-year-old played 13 ODIs and nine T20Is, in which he scaled 12 and 17 wickets, respectively. Dinda was a part of the Test squad but didn’t get to make his debut.

Meanwhile, Bengal are playing Andhra Pradesh in the third round of the Ranji Trophy. The host team lost an early wicket of Abhimanyu Easwaran and were 36/1 after 15 overs.
